There weren’t many people in my art class today at The Mansion. I saw a lot of new faces walking in the hallways, but it was a few of the regular people in my class.
Ellen and Mary were coloring when I got there and they kept on coloring until the class was over and it was time for lunch. They both have a great sense of humor. Mary’s is dry and Ellens self- deprecating.
Alyssa, who runs the activity room, knows how to make them laugh.

I brought in some water color kits today. I don’t know much about watercolor painting, but it’s so different from the markers and colored pencils everyone is used to using. I was hoping it would free people up to do something different.
I told them that they didn’t have to make a single painting, but that they should just experiment with the paint and how the colors bleed and blend and what the water can do.
Nancy really took to it. She created a beautiful abstract landscape.

Claudia used her paint brush like a marker and did a painting of Summer, the cat who lives at The Mansion.
Everyone at the table was impressed with her drawing skills, including me. Claudia keeps improving with her art. She gets very focused when she’s working. I can imagine a whole cartoon series with Summer the cat.

Rachel loves to draw and paint. She really worked her colors and did a beautiful job blending them together.

Susan insisted she didn’t want to paint until the class was almost over. Then she got up the nerve to begin. She started with a heart and went on from there. By the end of the class she was happy with the work she had done.

Maria, what a wonderful, creative space you have brought to the residents of The Mansion!!
I love doing it Marilyn. :)
Oh this is wonderful to see.
Do miss the weekly postings about the Mansion
Glad to see they are still there.
They are Dawn Marie. Things are not what they once were, but so far some of the people are still there. :)
