Jon and I have been rethinking the idea of getting another car. Today we went to a used car dealer in the next town. We saw two cars that had potential.
When we got home I went for a walk in the woods with the dogs. Heading back to the farm, I decided to walk in the creek which is so low the rocks are sticking out.
That’s when I saw the car.
I remember it from when we first moved to the farm, it was overgrown then but even more hidden by bushes and vines now. It’s no longer visible from the pasture and I forgot it was even there.
Maybe my seeing it is a sign that getting another car is a good decision. As a good friend said to me and Jon, “An independent woman needs her own car.”
I’ll think about the cars we saw today and keep looking.

Hi Maria, it’s funny I would be commenting on an old car but this taillight is unique and in good shape. Perhaps you could check out the condition. You’d be surprised this car could be worth something and not just for money but a lot of people love to restore cars like this one. Maybe you know someone in your area who would be interested. P.S I would like to put my name down for your “I’m not going back” magnets! If they are not already sold out. I would like one.if so. I, too have reasons for Not going back! Thank you, Joan
Joan the car is so deep in the brambles and down a hill, it’s much to hard to get to. But I will have a magnet for you. They are $7 including shipping and I’ll email you. Thank you!
Maria, My husband says that is a 1954 Mercury. He is usually really good with older car identification. Just thought you might like to know. Ha!
Wow Karen, I’m impressed! Thank your husband for the info. I guess the tail light, which looks like its in good condition helps give it away. A lot of work was done not the farm house in 1956. They must have been good years for the people who lived here then.
