Merricat’s curls were drenched in dew this morning. She and the other sheep had been grazing in the marsh. It’s dry now, except for the morning dew on the tall flowers and grasses. A bit of fern was stuck in Merricat’s wool, it looked so pretty, I took a picture.

Merricat has been unusually snuggly lately. I was as surprised as Jon when he called to me from inside the barn. “Look at this,” he said.
And there he was scratching Merricat’s nose.
Normally Merricat wouldn’t let Jon touch her nose and Jon wouldn’t have tried to. Jon always had a dog between him and the sheep. But since Red died and Fate doesn’t heard the sheep, Jon has less to do with the sheep than he used to.
Now instead of working with border collies, herding the sheep, he’s taking pictures of them. It’s a very different relationship that both Jon and the sheep are reacting too. Jon wrote a sweet piece about it on his blog today called, My Love Of Animals. It’s Changing….A Lot.
It seems to me the older Jon gets, the more he opens up, heart and mind. That good for him, me and everyone else on the farm.

The fern looks like one of the combs I sometimes put in my curly hair to hold it back. Love it! Maybe Merricat is going out dancing :)
Ha! I love that Marianna! And I can definitely see her dancing…
Wish I could get my hair to curl like that.
I know! it’s really pretty.
