Most of it came from Lorry’s mom. First it was boxes of fabric as Lorry cleaned out her mom’s house. Then came the tread. Lorry sent a big box of it all sorted into bags of like colors.
I’ve had them in those baggies for a while. All this time thinking about what I could do with them so they’d be easy for me to see the colors and keep them sorted.
I don’t have a lot of extra space in my studio, and I wanted them easy for me to access.
Yesterday I cut down a few of the boxes I’ve been saving that fit into the desk draw in my studio.

Then I dumped the bags of thread into the shallow boxes and organized them so they’re all laying flat, easy to see.
I have just one box of black and gray thread that doesn’t fit into the drawer. But I’ll figure that out. I can’t believe all the different shades of thread there are. Opening my drawer is like standing in front of the thread rack at Joann Fabric.
I’ll be happy to pass some on I find someone who can use it. Otherwise, thanks to Lorry and her mom, I’ll have enough tread for years.

And each time I use one, I think of how Lorry wrote me that her mom would have been so happy to know her fabric and thread was being used. And I think how grateful I am to have it.

What a fantastic gift! So beautiful in many ways and on many levels.
It’s really true KJ. And the people who buy my work benefit too. I’d have to charge a lot more for my work if I had to buy fabric. And now I don’t even have to buy thread!
That’s mind boggling!!!
I know! But the thing is Judy, I’ll use it!
Are we sure that Lori’s mom isn’t MY mom? LOL
Ha! I’ve benefitted from many of those moms. :)
