“I’m not going to put my name on that,” Rachel laughed. But she did, and everyone else sitting around the big table at The Mansion signed their drawings too.
They were collaborative pieces. I folded a piece of paper in to four sections. Everyone drew a head on the first section, then we passed the paper to the right and everyone drew a torso on the second section.
We did this filling the four sections of folded paper from with body parts from head to foot.

When the body parts were done. We unfolded the paper then passed it one more time.

“Be creative, ” I said to everyone when they unfolded their pieces of paper and stared at the drawing in front of them a bit horrified. “Attach the body parts, and fill in what’s missing.”

“Decorate their clothes, give them some color.” I said.

This was about collaboration, about working with what you are given, about solving the problem of how to make something that might not look like anything familiar into something recognizable.

It’s about breaking out of the known and expected and having fun, while creating something unique and thought provoking.
I’d say everyone succeeded.
