I was trying too hard, not seeing what was in front of me, what wanted to be created. But this morning when I went to my studio I saw the pieces I’d been playing with yesterday.
Today I was able to fit them together, to make sense of them.
I was thinking Orange Chakra Potholders. After my Red Chakra Potholders, I thought I’d try to make all the chakra colors into potholders.
When I found the orange elephant I believed I was on the right track. But what I held in my mind and what I was actually doing in the real world were two different things.
What I was able to do this morning, was let go of the idea in my head and work with what was on my studio floor and table. Those Orange Elephants are charging forward and nothing is going to stop them.
That’s how the Autumn Elephants evolved. But it didn’t stop there…
… then I found the eye. That third eye which speaks to the wisdom of elephants.
The orange color of the second chakra is in these potholders, but I began thinking of the elephants not as Orange, but as Autumn Elephants. So maybe they have less to do with the color orange than I originally thought. Or maybe there is a connection I’m not seeing.
Today I was too busy making them to think about them.I feel like their meaning will become more clear as I continue working on them.
I would love to have one with the yellow border. Especially the bottom right – if still available.
