I wonder if Suzy’s goats recognize their mohair spun and knit into Suzy’s Indigo Shawl. It’s mostly theirs with a little wool knit in.
The white and off white are natural colors right off of April, Ruth, Lucy and Alice. The blue is dyed naturally with indigo. I remember reading about working with natural indigo as a dye and how complicated the process is. Indigo has a long history with humans that goes back over 5000 years.
Once again Suzy has spun some pale blue locks into the natural off-white mohair. They are a whisper in the bold simplicity of the shawl’s design.

Suzy used smaller knitting needles to make this shawl, she said… “because it felt right”. So it has a bit of a tighter knit than the previous two shawls, yet still a lovely drape.

Like all of Suzy’s shawls Indigo Shawl is hand spun and hand knit. When she is done, Suzy washes her shawls in a natural solution to make them even softer than the mohair and wool combination already are.
Each shawl is a unique and original piece of wearable art.

Below is a new video of Suzy’s angora goats. April is the goat with the black nose and smile showing off her horns.
The goats were recently shorn. That pearly look is called luster. It’s different from wool because “mohair fiber is more hair-like compared to wool which is courser and has tiny barbs.”
The rooster is pretty handsome too.

All of the goats have female names but two have horns?
The females have horns Sharon. Many people dehorn them, or some goats don’t have horns I believe.
