Yesterday David delivered 15 bales of second cut hay. Second cut hay is more nutritious than first cut and we only feed it to the sheep and donkeys when it’s very cold out to boost their energy.
You can see how the second cut hay is greener than the first cut. Maybe you can also see the dark hole between the hay bales.
When David stacked the hay he made a house for Zip to sleep in and stay warm during the coldest winter nights.
I have a feeling Zip will prefer it to the styrofoam cooler bedded with straw.
We have more than enough hay for the winter. As we use up the hay that makes Zips house, I’ll continuously reconfigure it. And by the time we’re down to our last bales, it will be spring.
