“Follow the path of authenticity that is in alignment for you. This often requires letting go of what is expected of you, which can feel uncomfortable for fear of judgement. Elephant reminds you…[that] staying loyal to your natural inner flow is what ultimately matters. ” Animal Reflections Healing Oracle by Barbara Techel
My Orange Elephant Potholders evolved from my idea of making Orange Chakra Potholders. I was thinking that all my Chakra Potholders would be similar to the first ones I made, the Red Chakra Potholders. I also thought that I’d be creating the Chakra potholders in order beginning with the root chakra.
But now I’m not sure how it will go and what they will look like. I find that when I have an idea for something, it sometimes works as I imagined it and at other times, what I’m making has ideas of its own.
It’s mostly a matter of me giving up control, and allowing the art to tell me what it wants to be.
I’m not going to pretend to know exactly what my Orange Elephant Potholders are all about for me. What I do know is that whether it’s surrounded by leaves or over a third eye, the Orange Elephant is charging ahead. And when I was looking for fabric for Orange Chakra Potholders, it was the orange elephant, on an old tablecloth, that called out to me.
So I followed my instincts and these potholders are the result.

Elephants have many different meanings to people and many cultures have very specific beliefs about them.
Perhaps you have your own feeling about elephants and how they fit into your life.
My Orange Elephant Potholders are $25 each + $5 shipping for one or more. You can see them all in my Etsy Shop, just click here.

Love love love these! I have been meaning to make some potholders for Christmas gifts! You have inspired me!
Thanks as always for your great works!
Oh wonderful Gail. I still think of when you came here and we made potholders. I’m glad you’re still enjoying it!
Thank you, Maria, for sharing some of Elephant’s message from my oracle deck. I really appreciate this.
It’s interesting because last night I also had a dream where there were many animals around me and my job was to train a baby elephant. Wish I remember more of the dream, but I don’t. But it makes my heart smile I was working with a baby elephant.
But now as I reflect on it and another part of the elephant’s message in my guidebook: “elephant large in stature, but quiet in step, encourages you to move with the yin of conscious awareness, as this is what will guide you to that sweet spot of life over and over again.”
And this is where I am in many ways – a new beginning of seeing myself anew – of truly wanting to live from that authentic space of WHO I AM – which can at times feel like a young elephant learning to make its way in the world – and your mentioning here about the elephants in your potholders looking like they are charging ahead – and I feel this feminine rising aspect coming into play with all this.
Your “new beginning” is inspiring and encouraging Barb. Your dream is a sweet one and very telling. I trust my dreams more and more lately.
