I tend to draw the same scenes in our house over and over again. I know repeating a theme is often what artists do.
Part of it is that each time I look at the things in our house and how they work together, I see them a little differently. Sometimes just because after I’ve drawn it, I can see how to make it better. Not that “better” necessarily means more realistic. Sometimes it’s just about a line or a shape that finally registers in a way it hadn’t before.
More than anything, I want my drawings to have character and feeling. Especially the interior drawings of our house. I hope to capture the lived-in warmth of our home and the personalities of the things in it.
