A Mouth Full Of Hay

Issachar

It’s different than watching  the animals graze for the first time in the spring.   There is great pleasure when they get to eat fresh grass for the first time in months.

But when it’s time for hay,  I like to sit with the sheep and donkeys as they eat.

I crouch down between them, listening to the satisfying crunch and grind of hay.

Merricat and Kim

They eat the hay like they graze, picking the tastiest parts.  They nose around in the  bottom of the feeder or grab a thick mouthful from the top.

Lori

Lori and Robin are the messiest eaters.  Because their wool covers most of the their faces, the hay gets stuck in it.   But it never stays there long.  Eventually it falls out or, one of the other sheep eat it off of them.
