I started yesterday and finished raking leaves today. I filled up 16 forty gallons bags with leaves and put them on three sides of my studio. The only side without leaves is the south facing where the foundation is so low it’s hardly visible.

While I worked the sheep and donkeys grazed in the south pasture and the chickens hung out under the lilac (until they saw me taking this picture, then they came running).
Fate was in the pasture too and every once in a while I’d yell for her to “get the sheep” and off she’d go.
Zip came and went all day. Later in the afternoon around dinner time, he got my attention by jumping into the hen house. I haven’t seen him do that in a long time.

While I was raking the leaves by my studio the sun lit up the wooden spool thread on my window. They looked so pretty I took their picture.

Now all I have to do is put on my storm windows and my studio will be ready for the winter.
The bagged leaves worked really well last year, keeping the cold wind from going through the cracks in the dry stone foundation. It’s always the floor in my studio that is coldest.
And it’s a great use of the leaves. In the spring I’ll burn them in my equinox bon fire. The bags are heavy duty, so I’ll save the ones that survive the winter and use them again next year.

super great use of leaves, will share around
Oh good Sharon, it works really well.
