My Dream Of The Forgotten Baby

Merricat and Issachar’s wool

Last night I dreamed I had a baby I had forgotten about.

The baby was dressed in a blue one-piece outfit and was in a wrinkled paper bag.  Although the baby was dressed in blue, I knew it wasn’t a boy, but it wasn’t a girl either.  I felt bad that I had neglected the baby and gave them a bottle because I thought they must be hungry.  Although I was certain the baby was mine I could not remember giving birth.  That didn’t make sense to me because surely that would be something I wouldn’t forget.

When I woke, I thought about the meaning of the dream.  The baby felt like a burden to me and yet they was mine and I had to take care of them.  I was worried that I had neglected the baby and didn’t want them to grow up feeling unloved.

I believe this dream was about the election.

Trumps presidency is the burden that has entered my life, a burden I didn’t want, yet still have to deal with.  And like the baby in my dream,  I now have a responsibly to do the best that I can with the situation.

I have a sense of history during difficult times like these.

I imagine me in the future looking back on myself.  And I hope that in that future I can say that I handled myself and the situation well.

I think the idea of looking back on myself, takes me out of the moment, out of my own distress, and gives me some perspective. It allows me to think, not just about me, but of other people too, and the bigger picture.

  1. Today I called my friend who is Trump supporter and told her congratulations on the win. She shared how relieved she felt and few other comments I disagreed with but I was civil.
Kamala concession speech was so inspirational that we are peaceful to all. Not to back down but speak with a kindess.
