Shadow Bird Potholders

I had enough fabric to make seven Shadow Bird Potholders.  This time of year, the birds take the place of  flowers and plants for me.    They are aliveness and color while the trees, flowers and grasses sleep.

I still have the scarp pieces I made before starting my Acorn Quilt.   They hang on my wall waiting patiently for me to get back to them.  I’ve learned to trust my instincts about such things.

I can’t work on something I don’t feel.

But I do like having them hanging in my studio.  They are somehow a comfort, dependable like stars or petroglyphs waiting for the right time to reveal themselves.

  1. I would love to buy one of the shadow bird pieces when they are ready to go. I still use one I bought at your open house at the first Bedlam Farm, even though I scorched it on my electric stovetop! I think I am ready for a new one.
