The Back Pasture

For a few hours in the afternoon I open up the back pasture so the sheep and donkeys can graze.  They don’t get much nutrition from the grass this time of year, but grazing is what they do.  And they find plenty to nibble on.

Zip met us at the pond as we were leaving the pasture.  He and Zinnia walked back to the barn together.

  1. Maria the pasture picture is beautiful, unreal. The neutral colors – but the backs of the sheep are glowing – illuminated.
    Just Magical!

    1. Thanks Peg, When it took it I was shooting right into the sun and the picture was pretty dark. I lightened it a little and this is what happened. actually it was what i was seeing but my iPhone needed a little help getting it right.

  2. you know Maria, when I see 4 legged creatures walking together quietly, I immediately know that they are at peace with each other. No tension in their bodies tell me that fairness in their lives has them quiet. I have long held that fairness is a quality recognized by all creatures. We have had many guests with their companion animals visit us and no mayhem results. They respond to something intangible to humans but evident to the animal kingdom. veronica

    1. Now you have me thinking of about the idea of fairness Veronica. Maybe you’ve written a poem about it. I will look through your books to see if I can find one….
