Sometimes I wonder what compels me to keep tying the blue bailing twine onto the gate post. It would be so much easier to just throw it away each time I remove it from a bale of hay.
But I have this thing for string, for fibers in general. My hands love to tie and knot, they take over and leave me behind. Maybe in another lifetime I sat with other women and knotted fishing nets. Something practical and necessary.
But I’ve decided not to think about it too much. I don’t need to make sense of it, I will choose instead to listen to my hands and let them do their work.
Maybe they know something don’t.
