Acorn Quilt At Home

When I began making my Acorn quilt, there was nothing else I could imagine making.  The act of sewing all those scraps together, making sense of them, was healing.  And when I surrounded it with the acorn fabric, it gave the quilt the feeling of strength and resilience.

As if all that managed chaos was being held.

Jackie sent me this picture of Acorn Quilt on her bed.  She wrote, “It’s a visual feast and warm for the November gloom that’s settling in.”   She also said that she found the quilt grounding.

I sometimes wonder how much of what I’m feeling comes through, especially in an abstract piece like a quilt.  I know it can’t for everyone,  but for the person who chooses to live with something I make, I have found, from what they’ve told me, that they mostly feel the same way about it that I do.

I love seeing Acorn quilt in its new home with the trees just outside the window.
