There was much to do this morning before getting to my studio beside the morning chores. I put more Wool Pellets in the mail and made a trip to the bank. I still haven’t sent off the waste wool to have more pellets made, but I’ll get to that tomorrow.
I had the urge to get to my studio and use the scraps on my work table to make some Winter Woods Potholders. All those small pieces of fabric are just the right colors for this time of year. The golden light and the long deep shadows.
I got a few pieced together, but still have more scraps to work with.
I stopped at noon to have lunch with my friend Mandy. We are figuring out how to talk of our feelings about politics without trading fear and anger. We are always aware of bringing the conversation back to the lighter things in life. The good and simple things like food, books and watching her cats who are learning to lay together in the sun that reaches in through the windows and warms up the wooden floor.
Later this evening, I’ll drive another friend to the train station. I don’t usually plan two outings in one day, but I’m feeling the holiday spirit. This is the kind of week where people either gear up or slow down.
I’m slowing down. Still doing my work, but feeling the effects of nature. The colder, shorter days, that make me want to stop working earlier to be a little more social, as if I’m gathering myself for the coming winter.
