It’s been raining all day, soaking the ground that has been dry for too long. Except for the pile left by the plow, the snow and ice is all melted. I didn’t have time today, but tomorrow I’ll go to pond and see what the rain and warm weather has brought.
“Our mentioning of the weather-our perfunctory observations on what kind of day it is, are perhaps not idle. Perhaps we have a deep and legitimate need to know in our entire being what the day is like, to see it and feel it, to know how the sky is gray, paler in the south, with patches of blue in the southwest, the snow on the ground the thermometer at 18, and cold wind making your ears ache. I have a real need to know these things because I myself am part of the weather and part o the climate and part of the place, and a day in which I have not shared truly in all this is no day at all. It is certainly part of my life of prayer.” Thomas Merton When The Trees Say Nothing

“I myself am part of the weather and part o the climate and part of the place, and a day in which I have not shared truly in all this is no day at all. It is certainly part of my life of prayer.”
This makes me think of the idea of “Interbeing” that Thich Nhat Hanh speaks of. Your videos and writing about your walks remind me of this truth, that we are a part of the earth, not just walking upon it. We are the weather. We are all that we see and it is a part of us.
I have’t read about interbeing LoisJean, I’m going to look into it. it seems so obvious when I think about it, how we are a part of it all, yet it often feels so separate.
