Someone left a comment on my blog last week, saying that she liked how my quilts were often balanced without being symmetrical.
Not being symmetrical is something I consciously work to achieve, but balancing them is the part that happens on a subconscious level. I guess it’s just what pleases my eye and what feels right.
I got a little more work done on my Bird quilt this morning. I was a bit delayed when I noticed that a piece of fabric was fraying at the seam. That happens sometimes when I reuse fabric that was once something else, which much of my fabric is.
Luckily I had only sewed a few rows of fabric over the place I needed to get to. It was just a matter of removing the stitches and re-sewing. If I hadn’t seen it until the quilt top was already done, I would have had to figure out another solution, perhaps a patch with some topstitching. I’d have made it work.
I didn’t get to sew on the last strips of fabric, but I did figure out how I want them. It will be a good place to start tomorrow.
