Bare trees softened to mist with ice
Snow floats like dust in sunlight
Woodpecker knocks on the sturdy old maple
Impatient sheep and donkeys grab mouthfuls of hay from my arms
their maunre rolls like marbles under my boots
My eyelashes freeze with the moisture from my breath
