It was between sleeping and waking that I saw the pillow. Not really a dream, but not completely conscious either.
It was an image so clear in my mind, I even knew which piece of red fabric was on the bottom. I looked at it long to remember it. I thought if it’s making itself so available to me, it must have some meaning, some importance.
Once the image was fixed, I played with it a bit. The circle when I first saw it was empty, but soon an acorn appeared in it, then changed into a tree.
I left it then, not wanting to know it so well that I wouldn’t need to create it.

In my studio I got right to work, trying not to think about what I was doing and why, but working form the image I’d held in my mind.
And as I was stitching the oak tree, I thought to make another pillow, a companion pillow, with the acorn on it.

While I worked, I came to understood that the pillows are tall and narrow so that, like a doll, they could stand on their own, or be held and hugged. A comfort.

The circles are small just a few inches tall and the Oak Tree pillow is 15″x 7 1/2″, the Acorn pillow is 11 1/2″ x 6″.
I feel like they belong together, so I’ll be selling them as a pair for $125 + shipping. They are sold. If you’re interested you can email me at [email protected] or I’ll put them in my Etsy Shop on Thursday.
I can see making more of these, I’m already thinking of the phases of the moon…

This soft corduroy fabric is on the back of both pillows and they are stuffed with wool filling.

I love the concept, Love the color choice. Marie, I think you are onto something! Love to see you make more.
Thanks Linda, I have one with the phases of the moon in mind….
They are called body pillows in stores.
I have one and they are functional and comforting, esp. If you are on your own
Yours are much more wonderous.
Ah, these are smaller than the body pillows I’ve seen DawnMarie, but then I’m not really up on them.
