Knocking At My Door

Issachar with his nose between the barn and the gate with my Blue Baling Twine.

I’m in the barn getting the hay and I hear this banging on the barn.  I know it’s either Asher or Issachar knocking.

Both of them would jump into my lap if they could.  And this time of year, they have little patience as I get the hay and are always looking for a treat.  They kick at the side of the barn  like a goat and stand on the gate, until they see me coming.

The twins aren’t the only ones who let themselves be heard in this way.

When Fate wants to come in my studio she gives one big knock on my door with her foot.   It’s the only time she does this.  My dog Frieda used to the do the same thing.   The first time Fate did it, I was sure Frieda’s ghost had something to do with it.

The hens knock too.  I don’t know why, but they peck at the siding on my studio when they hang out under the bird feeder.

And then there’s the wood peckers.  But at least they keep it to the trees.
