My Night Owl Pillow sold quickly.
I knew I wanted to make more Holding Pillows and was inspired when Gail, who bought my Oak Tree and Acorn Pillows, sent me an email saying… “I received the pillows today. I am thrilled with them. They are visually comforting and feel sooo soothing.”
This is just what I hoped for.
Yesterday I had lunch with a friend and told her how I sometimes feel that like it seems ridiculous for me to be making quilts and potholders when the country is burning and there is so much political strife.
But then I get a message like Gails, or the one from Jan who says that my art and writing brings her joy, and Linda who finds connection though my work. And I think, for now, this is what I can do.
So when I went to my studio this morning, I thought of what comforts me and the soft green forest fabric that I’ve used before on a quilt and pillows came to mind.
From there I found the other pieces of fabric to begin my next Holding Pillow.
This afternoon, on my walk in the woods, I picked up a pine cone which I’ll reference to make the stitched drawing which will be in the circle on the pillow, like the oak tree, acorn and phases of the moon are on my other pillows.
I’ve already picked out the green flannel fabric for the backing.

For me, art, beauty, and creativity equal hope. Don’t stop. The world needs you artists and creatives, especially now.
Thanks Kim, I think you’re right.
