“Focus Maria,” I said out loud as I pulled each stitch with my seam ripper. It didn’t take long and it didn’t frustrate me to have to do as it might have another day. I knew it would slow me down, make me pay attention.
My mind was all over the place as I worked and I made one silly mistake after another. Most of them involved taking out stitches.
My muse is pissed I thought, because I didn’t get to my studio till after lunch. We have a deal that my mornings are dedicated to work in my studio. But it doesn’t always work out that way, as it didn’t this morning.
I could see the effects, how my mind is much calmer in the mornings when I get to work right after breakfast. It’s not yet filled with the thinkings of everyday life.
I was patient though. The most fun was sewing the pine cone. The seed of the Pine Tree.
I practiced drawing it on paper over the weekend. At my sewing machine I kept making the pine cone too big and I struggled to get each scale to look exactly alike.
But then something shifted inside of me and told myself to lighten up, to stop being so exacting and and let myself feel the pine cone as I stitched it.
And that’s just what I did. And when I looked at what I had drawn with my sewing machine, I smiled at its perfect imperfection and essence of “pinecone”.
My mind never really settled down, but I have hopes that Bellydancing will help with that. If not, by the time I get home from class, I’ll be too tired to think.
And despite my scattered mind, I did finish making my Pine Tree Holding Pillow.
It may already be sold, I’m waiting to hear back from someone who asked about it. If it isn’t, I’ll put it up for sale tomorrow.
Like my other Holding Pillows it’s about 6″x 15″ and is $75 + shipping. Below is the fabric on the back of it.

I would love to purchase the standing pillow Maria if it is available.
Thanks Kathy, It is already sold.
Maria, this pillow is just stunning. Kabuki.
Thanks Eileen. :)
Let me know if it is sold already Maria
Good for you Maria What attracted me was the feel of nature and the outdoors of the fabrics you chose for pillow.
Ah, that’s just what I was going for Kathy. Thank you!
