I got an email from Lewis at Noble Town Fiber Works saying that my wool will be all done next week.
I’m always excited to get my wool back and see what it looks like, but especially this year since I’m working with a new mill. If all goes well, and depending on the weather, I hope to pick it up next Thursday or Friday.
I couldn’t remember how I chose to process the wool, so I looked back on my blog to when I dropped it off.
There I found that I made Constance, Issachar and Merricat’s wool into three ply worsted. I also made a dark brown and white Barber Pole or Marled yarn with Merricat and Issachar’s wool.
I did something completely new with Robins wool making it into a thick rug wool that can be knit with wooden circular needles. I’ll get more information on the knitting needles when I pick up my wool and let you know exactly what they are (although I’m sure many of you already know).
Then I got roving in three colors, Lori’s gray, Asher’s dark brown and Kim’s white. I’ll be using some of it to make dryer balls and sell some of it as roving for hand spinning and felting.
As excited as I get about my wool, I also get nervous.
I’m not a naturally trusting person, and can be skeptical. It took me a while to trust Deb, at The Vermont Fiber Mill where I took my wool for ten years. It also took me years to trust myself, to see that I could make good decisions about processing and selling my wool.
But like Deb, Lewis has been understanding and helpful, which I appreciate.
I do have a list of people who have asked for wool, roving and dryer balls from last year. I understand it’s been longer than usual so some of you many not want what you did a year ago. But I’ll still be contacting you in a couple of weeks, just to make sure.
I also heard from Otter Lake Farm and Fiber. They’ve mailed out my Wool Pellets so I should have them soon. Two bags are already sold, but I should have seven more for sale.
