We had it all figured out. We’d work till 11am then head out for lunch and a trip to Mass MoCA, my birthday museum visit.
At 11:15 we pulled out of the driveway and when we did the car made a strange noise that stopped as soon as I straightened out the wheel. The next time we turned it happened again. I got out of the car and looked at the wheels but couldn’t see anything out of place.
We have a wonderful mechanic in town who regularly goes out of his way to help people. So we took our chances to see if he had a minute to check out the strange sound.
A half hour later we were back on the road.
I ran over the pile of snow left from the plow in our driveway and it knocked one of the plastic tire shields loose. Our mechanic, Clint, screwed it back in place in minutes. Then he shook my hand and wished me a happy birthday.
Soon we were driving through Vermont and over the border into Massachusetts. We stopped in Williamstown to eat at out favorite Korean Restaurant, which also serves Japanese food. It’s nothing fancy, just a few tables and lots of take out.
The food is exceptional.
I had Agedashi tofu with bonito flakes and we each had a big bowl of soup. We sat by the window watching the snow come down and wondering about the weather. Earlier the forecast was for rain but now there was a weather alert for ice and snow.
Jon texted a friend back home who said the roads were already getting slick. So we decided to postpone the museum and head back home.
It was a long way to drive for lunch, especially on a work day, but we had a good time, the drive is a pretty one and the food felt particularly nourishing.
We’ll get to the museum over the weekend and really be able to enjoy it, knowing we don’t have to rush home because of the weather.
“I think we should make this a museum year” I said to Jon as I sucked udon noodles into my mouth. When he asked what I meant I said we should go to at least one museum every month.
Jon thought it a good idea. I already have two trips planned for February, Mass MoCA this weekend and Enchanting Threads at the Albany Institute for History and Art, which runs through March.
I’ll be sure to take pictures where ever we go and share them here with you all. A museum a month should keep my art hungry eyes satisfied.

Glad you’re safely home. I know you’ve will make it to a museum in good time!
We got there over the weekend Maggie.
