Under The Table

I was standing in the dining room, stretching my back, hinged at the hips.  What I saw upside down got my attention.  Sometime about the shapes, textures and the light.  The half circle of the ball under the couch and the pattern made by the pages of the books along the top of the shelf.

It made me want to take a picture.  So I did.

Then I began to wonder what else I wasn’t seeing under the tables in our house (besides a rug that needs to be vacuumed).

So I crawled around on the floor and took some more pictures.

The cord on the floor is like a road, leading my eye to the tangle of wires in the power strip, then beyond. It speaks to life in an old house where outlets and overhead lighting in scarce.

Bud showed up for this one.

  1. I’m always surprised and fascinated by what appears under furniture. Sometimes I look under things and find what I am looking for but more often I find something unexpected.

  2. Fun! That’s the sort of thing we do as kids and then just don’t anymore. It made me wonder ifI could still hang my head upside down off the couch (like I did as a kid and teen). Maybe I’ll give it a try.
I have house rabbits and the moment I saw all those unprotected cords I instinctively cringed on your behalf. They would make some great “chew toys”.

    1. Ah, Trish, you brought back something I’d totally forgotten about. I’m not sure why that was so much fun, I’ll have to think about it, or maybe like you say try it and see. Maybe it’s not a “thinking” kind of thing. :)
Luckily, our dogs are really only interested in food, not wires. :)
