My Bedlam Farm Wool Pellets Are Sold Out

Zip  with an 8 pound bag of Bedlam Farm Wool Pellets.  My 1 lb bags of wool pellets are for sale in my Etsy Shop or you can email me at [email protected].

I have four bags of Bedlam Farm Wool Pellets available.  This is my third batch and I won’t have anymore until the spring shearing.

I know most people aren’t thinking about their gardens this time of year, but  when I was in the hardware store this weekend, there was a rack of seeds both flowers and veggies.  And I know from experience, if I don’t buy them early, the ones I want will be all gone.

I’m saving a pound of Wool Pellets for me and Jon to put in our gardens.  I’m curious to see how they work.  I may use some in my vegetable garden as mulch, we don’t have slugs, but the snails love the kale as much as I do.

Snails don’t like wool pellets though, it has barbs which keep them away.

Jon will mix it in with the soil in his garden bed.  That soil is pretty healthy from the donkey manure, but it could use some aerating, it gets pretty dense.

They Pellets are made from the waste wool after shearing.   That’s the wool that Ian, our shearer, tosses aside because it’s not fit for making into yarn or roving.   I scoop  it up and put in a garbage bag.

Until this past fall I would have thrown the wool away.  Now with the help of Otter Lake Farm, who makes the wool into pellets, it doesn’t have to go into the garbage stream but can be used to help make healthier soil in the garden.

Nothing is added to the wool, it is simply shaped into small pellets.  So when I send out 8.5 pounds of waste wool, I get back 8.5 pound of wool pellets.

One pound of Wool Pellets  will cover a 30 square foot garden.  Just store them in a cool dry place while you’re waiting for spring to come around again.  They can last this way for up to three years.

My Bedlam Farm Wool Pellets are $23 + $10 shipping for one pound.  They are all sold out. You can buy them in my Etsy Shop, just click here.

I had to add a dollar on the price to help with the Etsy fees, if you want to buy them directly from me they are $22 + $1o shipping.  I take checks, PayPal and Venmo, just email me at [email protected].

  1. I always have problems with soil in flower pots becoming too dense. I know it depends on the size of the container, but do you have a suggestion as to how much to mix in with soil.

    Thank you

    1. I’ve read in a few places that you can use a half cup of wool pellets for a gallon of soil Christine. I’m glad you mentioned that. I’m going to try it in some of my plants and see how it works.
