I went to my studio this morning unsure of what I would do. Although I had the urge to start something different. I haven’t worked with any of the many old worn and tattered quilts that so many of you have sent me.
I had the idea for a while of combining an old quilt and some Vintage Hankies, to make a collage-like backing. I just didn’t have any ideas about what might happen after that.
So I decided to just get started and see what happened. To let the process lead me to the next step.
I chose a quilt and randomly pulled some hankies out of my stash.

I laid the hankies on top of the quilt then using big basting stitches sewed them together.

I really have no idea what I’ll do next.
I was supposed to pick up my yarn tomorrow but it’s not quite done yet. There is an ice storm scheduled to hit the North East tomorrow, so we wouldn’t have driven the hour and a half to get it anyway. That’ means I’ll get my yarn on either Monday or at the end of next week.
So tomorrow I’ll have the day in my studio to see if something comes to me. I have a feeling this is going to be a slow piece of art. One that takes its time revealing itself. I like the uncertainty and mystery of it.
It’s not as if I have an image in mind or even an idea of what this will look like. I don’t even know what it might be about. There’s a lot of freedom in that.
I’m curious to see what will happen.

I know I will love what you do. It is an adventure! Stay safe and warm my friend.
I’m trusting it Maggie.
