I’ve been selling my sheeps wool for eleven years. The sheep have changed, and the wool changes too, even if it’s from the same sheep.
This year my wool is particularly soft, which I think is due to their winter diet of naturally grown hay.
And the colors change too, they seem to get lighter as the sheep grow older. Constance’s wool is more silver this year and Issachar’s wool is a softer brown. Merricat’s white is as creamy as ever.
Because my new mill Nobletown Fiber Works doesn’t do any dyeing, I have three natural colors of yarn for sale.
Constance and Merricat’s yarn is pure Romney. And Issachar’s yarn and Asher’s roving is a mix of Cormo, Blueface Leicester and Romney.
I’ll be making dryer balls from some of the roving, that I got from Kim, Lori and Asher .
But I’m selling some of Ashers roving too. An 8 oz bag is $40 + $6 shipping.
I was texting with my friend Suzy Fatzinger who makes those wonderful shawls I sell every fall and she said the price of roving has risen. I saw that when I was figuring out my own pricing. But it was reassuring to hear it from Suzy. She’s in the wool market in a way I’m not.
Suzy is one of the people who will be getting an 8 0z bag of Asher’s roving. She loves working with it.
You can buy my Bedlam Farm Yarn and Roving in my Etsy Shop. Just click here. Each skein of yarn is 200 yards of 3 ply worsted. They are $28 + shipping. Asher’s roving is 8oz for $40 + $6 shipping.
I also have rug yarn from Robin which I will write about separately.
You can email me at [email protected] if you have any questions or would rather not use Etsy.
