Robin’s Rug Yarn Wool For Sale

Jon’s photo of me and Lewis, at Nobletown Fiber Works, when I picked up my wool last week.

I sent Suzy (who makes those beautiful shawls I sell every year) a photo of Robin’s Rug Yarn.  We were texting back and forth about mills and yarn when she suggested that Robin’s Rug Yarn could be made into chair mats.

When I got Robins rug yarn, I didn’t think of making it into anything but a rug.  But I loved Suzy’s idea and it made me realize that people who work with wool knitting, crocheting and weaving, would have their own idea on how to use Robin’s rug yarn.

That’s Robin’s Rug yarn on the table to my right, in Jon’s photo above.  It’s now for sale in my Etsy Shop.

120 yards of Robins Rug Yarn is $95 + shipping you can buy it here.

I never had my wool made into rug yarn before.

But now that I’m working with a new mill,  I like the idea of trying something different.  When Lewis, who owns Nobletown FiberWorks, showed me a sample of the rug yarn when I was dropping off my wool last summer, I got excited about the look of it.

I was just as happy when I picked up my wool last week and saw Robin’s wool made into rug yarn.  The skeins are big.  They are spun so the have a bit of a twist, are thick and bulky.  The yarn is very soft and warm.

My skeins of Robins Rug yarn are each 120 yards.   Thats 2.3 lbs of wool ( about nine skeins of my 3 ply worsted yarn). They are 100% Romney wool.

Lewis told me about the website Purl Soho.  They have free instructions on how to  knit a 34″x41″ rug  using two skeins of 140 yard rug wool.  They use a US 36,  32″ circular knitting needles.

You can get the free instructions from Purl Soho here.

Unless of course you have another idea you’d like to try using Robins Rug Yarn.  If you do, I’d love to hear about it.

Each skein of Robin’s Romney Rug Yarn is 120 yards and  is $95 + shipping. I also have a small skein of Robins Rug Yarn that is 28 yards (10 oz) it is $25.   It can be used as is, or added to one of the larger skeins.

You can buy Robin’s Rug Yarn in my Etsy Shop, just click here.  Or you can email me at [email protected].  I take checks, Paypal and Venmo.

Robin, his beautiful wool and his sweet smile.
The sample rug Lewis was working on made from rug yarn with the circular knitting needles attached.
