The first time I saw the markings of a birds wings in the snow was a few years ago in the woods. This year, with the a light dusting of snow, that falls every night, on the hard icy crust, and two bird feeders in the yard, there are so many tracks left by the birds.

This one even looks like a bird. And as they all do if we can read them, it tells a story. This bird left a sunflower seed behind, making me think it was making a quick get-a-way.

To me the markings the birds leave in the snow, with both their feet and wings, remind me of petroglyphs. It is a language, and with creative cropping it is art.

Beautiful, Maria. ❄️
