Ice Dog

We go for a walk in the woods and on the way back Zinnia likes to take a swim in the pond.  It does’t matter if it’s mostly covered in ice.

Even on the coldest days, when there was the smallest circle of water where it run through the culvert, Zinnia stepped into the water.  There was only room enough for her to turn around, but she couldn’t resist.

Today the thermometer read 40 degrees. The snow and ice only began to melt.

Zinnia was covered in mud from splashing though the rootball pond of the overturned Hickory in the woods.  So I was glad when she broke through the ice and cleaned off in the pond, which is no more than two feet deep.

She shook herself off then rolled in the snow.

Zinnia walking under the fallen Hickory in the wood before taking a mud bath in the small pond it’s root ball created.

  1. I have read about many people using a cold plunge for overall health, to improve the immune system, and strengthen resilience. I get it – the benefits, but just can’t get myself to even embrace a cold shower for more that about 30 seconds! Good for Zinnia!
