It was Eileen with her description of the flowers blooming in her neighborhood in California that got me smelling Jasmine. She describe Night Blooming Jasmine, but the smell that is still with me is the Jasmine that seemed to be everywhere when I was in India.
And it was the idea of Night Blooming Jasmine that inspired the potholders I started making today.
The fabric was already on the work table, the parts that I didn’t use in my White Hen Walk About potholders. These were birds in trees on a black background. Night Birds.
Night Blooming Jasmine is a symbol of love, mystery, sensuality and romance.
I used purple, red, green, even some fabric with hearts on it. I wasn’t thinking so much as feeling as I chose the colors and patterns and sewed them together.
And the whole time I was smelling Jasmine.
I finished working too late, it was already dark and I couldn’t get a picture of the Potholders that showed the colors accurately.
But I will on Monday when I go back to work. For now the sheep, the mud and Zinnia will have to do.
