I could hardly wait to get to my studio this morning. I’ve had the itch to make more Holding Pillows for the past few days.
I kept thinking of the sun rising over the tree tops that are in the woods behind the farm. I kept thinking of yellow.

I played with the strips of fabric, moving them around till I got them just right. Then I began working on the sunrise over the trees.
I was humming along, stitching the trees, when suddenly my sewing machine jammed.
I took the next hour trying to get it working again. I even took the machine apart and cleaned it out, but nothing worked.
I was scheduled to be work at the Cambridge Food Pantry but just before leaving, I lowered the feed dogs on my Janome sewing machine, changed the foot and for the first time used it to do free motion sewing.
It doesn’t have the extension that my Singer has, but for the small round drawing I was making for my Holding Pillow the regular base was big enough.

When I got back from unloading the boxes of food at the Pantry, I went right to my studio and finished my pillow.

I think my Sunrise Holding Pillow is already sold. But if it isn’t I’ll let you know.
I hope to make another Holding Pillow tomorrow after I drop my Singer Sewing Machine off to be fixed. I have a list of people who want them and I the creative urge to make make more.
