LoisJean sent me the We’Moon calendar. It’s filled with writing and art by women and their wisdom from the moon.
It is where I read an excerpt from the poem Emergence, by Maureen Sandra Kane.
When I first read it, I thought surely that isn’t what I do as an artist, as if I wasn’t worthy of it.
But then I read it again, two more times actually, and allowed myself to feel the words. When I did, something inside of me shifted so I could imagine myself as a part of the process described. Suddenly it wasn’t something outside of myself, something other artist’s do but not me. In fact, it felt most familiar.
So when I went into myself studio to work this morning, I thought of the poem, not so much the words but the feeling of “dipping my ladle into the cauldron” and seeing what I would come up with.
Emergence by Maureen Sandra Kane
“Our cells understand, but cannot speak it back,
The world of art,
home of prayer.
Seeds of creation arising and dissolving.
The artist dips her ladle into this cauldron,
scoops out what she finds
so the rest of us can peer into the space
where Mystery plays hide and seek with herself. “

Maria, These 2 holding pillows are magical. Confirming I am in your wait list for one of these pillows. And if by chance this is available, I am interested in buying this beautiful piece of art and comfort.
from my heart,
Carol
You are on my list Carol, but I’m afraid these two are spoken for. I will be making more next week and will have one for you too. Thank you. :)
Absolutely lovely. The imagery of dipping the ladle is moving.
I find it to be also Maggie.
What do you fill you’re pillows with? I’m starting to make pillows vintage material and wonder do I buy pillow forms or filler ?
I just use polyfil Laurie. It’s recycled so I like that. And it’s easy to find, although like everything, more expensive than it used to be.
