I wasn’t thinking about the Blood Moon Eclipse. But I was looking through my fabric, and saw the piece that Karen sent me so long ago.
It’s fabric based on an Gustav Klimt painting. It’s just a scrap of fabric left over from a shirt she made, but it is special. I used a small piece of it in a potholder a few years ago, but I’ve never quite known what to do with it.
I think because it feels so special, I’ve been saving it, waiting to use it for just the right thing.
When I saw it today, I knew right away I’d use a piece of it to make a Blood Moon Eclipse Holding Pillow.
It was that piece of fabric, the one in the pillow that undulates, that moves, with the spheres and black squiggles, that the design for the pillow grew from.
Red and orange and gold, like the full moon in the shadow of the earth.

The drawing of the moon held in the branches of the Paper Birch in our yard comes from the photo I took and posted on my blog.
I was so moved by the experience of seeing the eclipsed moon and liked stitching the drawing of it so much, I made a few more that I’ll make into potholders.

My Blood Moon Holding Pillow is sold.

The blood moon drawings are eerily beautiful and that textured red fabric is perfect. Wonderful!
I need to check your site for teal or fuchsia.
I’ll be making more Micki, If you want I can put you on my list of people who want Holding Pillows. Just let me know. And thank for your good words.
