Our Morning of Eye Surgery, Waiting Drawings, Flowers and Teal Corduroy

While Jon had a procedure done on his eye this morning, I was in the waiting room drawing.  The Waiting Drawing above was a part of a larger drawing, but I liked the way it looked on it’s own best.

I had time to draw another version of it before we left…

On the way home we stopped for lunch then at the florist in Cambridge.  Jon knew just what he was looking for, wide flat surfaces.  Sue, who owns the shop, helped him find it in lilies and tulips.

Jon’s  flower photos are getting more abstract and are moving towards the color field painters, such as Mark Rothko.

I had a feeling there was something for me in the  Senior Center Thrift Store, which is next to the florist.  I quickly found what was calling me.  A square of dark teal corduroy, that I know will eventually be a part of one of my Holding Pillows.

Even though Jon’s eye was dilated, he couldn’t wait to get home and photograph his new flowers.  The sun was so bright he had to throw a towel over his head so he could see while taking pictures.

You can see the flower photos Jon took today here.

  1. Maria, sight unseen, may I be in line for a teal-based holding pillow? Speaking of sight, good wishes to Jon.
