Jon And Ian, Writer And Poet

Jon and Ian

I wish I had one of Ian’s poems to print on my blog.

He stopped by tonight on his way to the monthly Poetry Night at Battenkill Books.  It’s a small group open to the public where people can read their own poems and or someone else’s poetry.

Ian is a regular there now.

We had a quick dinner and in between Jon and Ian talking about mystics, he read one of his new poems.

Ian has always had a great use of language, but he has grown in his usage of it.  It’s as if he was intentionally obscuring his poem, so they were almost impossible to understand.  But he was always able to talk about them or even explain them intelligently.

Now it’s as if the two parts have come together. Or perhaps it’s just that he doesn’t feel like he has to hide anymore.

When Jon showed Ian his new hat and Ian pulled out his hat, I asked if I could take their picture together.

I think it speaks for itself.

  1. All I can say is the minute I saw the photo it made me smile. A tribute to what friendships can do to two stylish men.

  2. Ian has come a long way since being introduced on the
Bedlam Farm blogs. the newfound confidence just
radiates. Well done you two…you’ve outed a true poet.
