I was also very interested in the ideas of Joseph Campbell and might even still have the CDs. Unfortunately I no longer have his book, The Power of Myth, but of course can get it. And my husband had his collected works in a book. The Man of a Thousand Faces (?) Long time since I thought of this – thank you
Maria, That’s how I’ve always seen you and your art- Everything is art because you see with an artists eyes. It’s a way of your being in the world. You see patterns and beauty everywhere especially the commonplace. You help us see it as well. And for that I’m grateful. Not forgetting you Jon and your art as well!
Yes, Lois, it’s true. I’ve just haven’t always known what to do with that kind of seeing. I have finally figured out it’s place in my life. And my life is more full for it. :)
I so enjoy your This is Us videos! I liked the mesh between creativity and looking inward. I’ve always believed I have 3 parts, physical, emotional and spiritual and they are all interconnected. Finding and using your unique creative spark which I feel is part of the spirit can calm the emotions and give us energy to create beauty in our chaotic world. Thank you both for sharing your lives, it is a bright spark in my day! Your friend Josie
That’s interesting about the three parts of you Josie. It makes sense to me, artists have always taken chaos and made sense or beauty of it. You are living it.
Thank you, Maria and Jon for sharing what I needed to hear today. I am finding my balance as I let my creative spirit push distress and worry aside. I confess that my fantasy is to feed the donkeys and sheep with you, Maria and then to sit in a quiet corner of your studio to watch you work and to feel the creative energy that fills that space.
Feeding the animals does feel so good Laura. It’s a lovely rhythm to my days. And that creative energy is cultivated. Take this time as a gift to your creativity. The more you nuture it, the more it will yield.

That’ the name I couldn’t think of LoisJean, The Power of Myth. I think it’s the kind of writing that we can always find something new in.
