Kathye asked for two Holding Pillows, Moon Shadow is the second.
More soft colors I began this Pillow with the strip of pink and white oak leaves on the end. The strips of fabric came together easily, but the stitched image eluded me. Kathye, being a person of the light, I used the sun with its flowing rays in her first Holding Pillow called Flowing Light.
I wasn’t until I was driving to my friend Mandy’s house to have lunch that I knew what I wanted to do.
This time the moon would be the source of light. And I’d show it by stitching a tree and its moon shadow.

When I finished Moon Shadow and looked at it from a distance, I realized how much April’s Pink Moon had influence it.
It was cloudy here on Sunday so I didn’t get to see the full moon itself, but the night was still bathed in her light. And last nigh when I went to close the door of the Chicken Coop the, all but full moon, was a glowing ball of light hovering just above the tips of the trees in the woods.
I stood marveling for a bit then blew the moon a kiss.
The Pink Moon is named for the color of the flowers blooming in April. And those soft pinks and soft browns of the yet to bloom vegetation are the colors that made their way into Moon Shadow Holding Pillow.

I know I sent you an email after the first and second pillow, but I wanted to publicly say how beautiful and powerful and soothing Flowing Light and Moon Shadow are! They hold so much meaning for me, Maria! The colors, the patterns, the patches of the sunlight and moonlight on the trees…each stitch placed with your love and creativity. And your stories and your light that lead you down the path to each creation, further enrich what they mean to me! When Cat Stevens was asked about the meaning of his 1975 song Moonshadow, he explained that “whatever happens to you there’s always something good to look forward to”. I believe that sentiment!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart Maria! I LOVE them! Here’s to “leapin’ and hoppin’ on a moonshadow…moonshadow, Moon Shadow”!
Thank you Kathye, it’s always so nice to hear.:) I never heard Cat Stevens say that about the song, but it’s really what the song is all about. Now I see It has more meaning for you than I imagined. And of course I was singing it when I was sewing your pillow.
