I wasn’t thinking about Easter when I made my Natural History Potholders. But here it is Easter weeknd and I have Potholders with eggs on them.
Not exactly Easter eggs, but still, my subconscious seems to have been at work.
I was thinking of spring, and the peepers who have been singing the nights away for the past few weeks.
The eggs and frogs went together in a way that brought to me the feeling of those wonderful Victorian Natural History Museums filled with specimens of eggs, insects and animals.
There is a small one, called the Pember Museum, just few towns north of the farm. It’s on the second floor of the Granville Library and walking into it is like going back in time.
I tried the capture that feeling in my potholders although my potholders also evoke animals that are still alive.
