Did the sheep know that this morning I’d be putting them in the barn again like I did yesterday. I guess you could say I tricked them when I put a small leaf of hay in one feeder knowing the donkeys would go right to it and chase the sheep away.
Then I brought another small leaf of hay into the barn, one gate already closed.
If they were on to me they didn’t show it. They all followed me right into the barn, crowding around the small bit of hay while I closed the gate behind them.
They will have the whole day, until Ian comes to shear them, to graze the few stands of hay on the hard packed floor of the barn. Hopefully they’ll be bored enough to nibble the hay out of each others wool too, leaving less work for me to do once they are shorn.
