I never ask the dogs to pose, but when I finished taking a video of the snow fleas, Fate and Zinnia were standing in front of the shagbark hickory as if begging me to take their picture.
Maybe they wanted to me to mention what great dogs they are on our walks in the woods. Mostly because I don’t have to worry about them and greatly enjoy their company. And I know they enjoy our walks in their own dog way.
The woods so different than just yesterday, with a winter blue sky and sunshine. Warm enough for the snow fleas to be out….

I’ve never heard of snow fleas. Do they bite like regular fleas?
No Sandy, they don’t bite or attach themselves to animals or humans. They do break down the soil and are around all year long, it’s only easy to see them in the winter because of the snow. I’ve seen them for a few years now, but I just found all this information about them on this site…https://entomology.umn.edu/snow-flea
Thanks for asking, I’ve been meaning to look them up for a while.
