Because it was so comfortable, and easy on my back, I once again sat in the living room rolling Lori’s roving into dryer balls.
The dogs kept me company, Fate and Zinnia resting after a walk in the woods. Bud finding the sun and the warmth of the wood stove.

My scale at my side, I roll up the roving into 1 ounce balls then tie them into the long socks. I can fit five dryer balls in each sock.
In the washing machine, I put in the soap, set the dial to heavy duty and push the button for hot water. They will wash for 2 hours, all that motion, hot water and soap, felting them into balls.
Then they go in the dryer, on high, for more than an hour until they are dry.

I snip the yarn ties and reach into the sock pulling each dryer ball out, one at a time.
Fifty four in all. Thirty are spoken for. I’ll put the rest up for sale in my Etsy Shop tomorrow. Three dryer balls, made from my ewe Lori’s wool, for $25 + $5 shipping.
Use them instead of dryer sheets. They’ll get rid of static cling and wrinkles. Your clothes will dry quicker. And unlike dryer sheets they can be used again and again.
Wool Dryer Balls can be washed inside a mesh bag using a gentle detergent. You can also add a scent to them with a few drops of essential oils.
Just don’t let your dog get hold of them. Somehow, Bud seems to find of all my dryer balls eventually.

Well done Maria & Lori

Lori looks magnificent and regal – like a portrait of Queen Victoria!
Ha! Peg, you’re so right! I thought she looked impressive too.
