April Snow on Spiders Silk

So much talk of billionaires.  I don’t even know what a billion dollars means.

But when I see all the spiders silks, strung between branches, hung with snow like a clothesline, or swaying like a pendulum, or watching a single snowflake slide down the silk and gather with others like a beaded necklace, I know what a billion or even a quadrillion means.

But not as something that can be counted or contained.

All those spiders silks strung with spring snow, even just in the little woods behind the farm, is something so much bigger than myself.  Yet, seeing them, knowing they are there, makes me feel like I’m a part of it all too.

Being among such multitudes is expansive, opening my heart and deepening my breath.   Maybe because I know it is not something I can count or keep, I can only enjoy it while it lasts.
