Another Hankie Quilt….

These long warm days are good for getting a lot of work done.  My studio door propped open, with few distractions and a pile of vintage hankies I didn’t stop till I had them all folded, stuffed and sewn.

First I choose a hankie and figure out the best way to fold it.  This depends on the design on the hankie and if it has any staining that needs to be hidden.

I decided on the pink.

The gauze fabric is from a pair of  pantaloon pants that I made for Bellydancing some years ago. When I stopped dancing, I cut them up, folded up the fabric and put it on the shelf in my studio.

The color and light weight of the fabric were just right.

I cut the pink gauze to the size of the folded hankie….

Then place it inside the hankie and stitch the edges.

The pink peeks though the spaces and tints the white hankie making the stitching pop.

Tomorrow I will start sewing them all together.
