There are some good roosters out there. And my Good Rooster Potholders are dedicated to them.
The rooster fabric was pretty enough, the colors bright and roosters impressive. But my first thought was “who needs another rooster”. Then I remembered Winston, Jon’s rooster at Old Bedlam Farm.
He was a good rooster. Maybe because he was old and lame, but he got that way fighting off a hawk, and I never saw him harass the hens like I’ve seen roosters do since then.
After the second aggressive rooster Jon and I had in our flock of chickens, we decided not to have anymore.
But I’ve heard stories of good roosters from friends, so I know they’re out there. And I do love to hear our neighbors rooster crowing in the morning.
