Jon and I watched Sophia Coppola’s movie Marie Antionette on Sunday. Most of the movie takes place in Versailles. The whole movie was visually stunning and the colors and images are stuck in my head in a good way.
I didn’t know that the palace was more of a village than just the home of the King and Queen. Although I have wondered what one, even extended, family would do with all those rooms even with all the servants it would take to care for it.
There could be thousands of people there at a time.
So people were always moving about, the hallways and public rooms like an indoor city.
There is a scene in the movie where a two or three women stand in a corner and watch the other people walking by. They are commenting to each other about the other peoples clothes and hair and who they are sleeping with etc.
When I took this picture of Kim, Constance and the hens, that scene came to mind.
KittyAnne and Mean Hen parading around the barnyard in their fine feathers as Kim and Constance, heads together, watch them and gossip.
